end of exams start of holidays

Exams for this semester ended on tuesday after a stretch of 5 papers in 8 days. But it felt like the exams had lasted forever. Maybe because for the couple of weeks before that have been going back to school almost everyday. So tiring to study. But who to blame for me not being able to study at home. This time though if i don't do well i dont think it's due to a lack of effort. More because of my brains and intelligence instead perhaps. As usual a brief rundown on the very eventful one week of exams.

1. Feedback Control Systems
(Monday 24/04/06 5pm)

Actually there are pros and cons for all three timeslots for papers (namely 9am, 1pm and 5pm). 5pm papers end very late and you'll not feel like studying anymore once you reach home. And you'll tend to feel hungry in the midst of the paper as it's dinner time. But the good thing is you have an extra half a day to prepare and you don't have to wake up that early and hustle with the morning crowd.

Back to the paper then. I think it's not a very difficult paper. A lot of people will get As. Not me i guess. As usual. But the most frustrating is that we spend so much and yet they take half an hour and counting to collect and count our scripts. And scream at us some more. But still do-able i guess. So not too bad. Bad but not too bad.

2. Mechanics Of Materials II
(Wednesday 26/04/06 5pm)

Six main chapters taught over two parts in the semester. And you can call it fate or me being suay that my most confident topic(s) didn't even appear at all. No sniff at all. Sigh. After the exam also found out that my answers don't bear any resemblence to others. But the weird (or frightening you may like) thing is that i'm not in the least bothered about that. Probably my worst paper of this exam.

3. Changing Landscapes Of Singapore
(Friday 28/04/06 9am)

Very early paper. Wake up so early. Kenna squeezed in the mrt. Missed four trains as everyone cuts my queue. Very tired. This paper reaffirms my belief that i have very (or should i say super) lousy time management. I write until my fingers almost cramp also cannot finish. And it's the question that carries the most weightage some more. Some people can do it. I just don't seem to be able though. I mean setting a time limit for each question and sticking to it. I cannot bear to leave a essay question unfinished. Damn... my fetish... haha.

4. Fluids Mechanics II
(Saturday 29/04/06 1pm)

Got to be the worst timing for a paper. In the middle of the day. No time before no time after. Luckily it's a saturday. Eh... but i thought we have converted to a five-days work week also. Why do we still have exams on saturdays??

Allowed to bring in four helpsheets (i.e. 8 pages). Time spent writing these helpsheets easily eclipsed what i spent for all the other subjects. Ok maybe i'm exaggerating a bit here but it is a very tedious task i'm not kidding you. Might as well make it an open-book paper in the first place. But at least the helpsheets helped which is the whole point right. Unlike Fluids I last semester. Far from it actually. But i'm not looking forward to doing this again.

Met up with my friends the night after the paper. Life is getting too monotonous. Sleep school home sleep. Cannot take it. Caught a movie "You're My Sunshine". A korean movie. I guess you can say it's ok but really the lead actor is not very lookable by today's standards. Not a visual treat definitely.

After that was mahjong and talk cock session as usual. Nothing much that a few poor souls can do these days anyways. It was fun. All the way till the next morning. Welcome back Tanny!! Slept for three hours, met up with another friend for lunch and it's back to school for preparations for my last paper. Sigh.

5. Mathematical Methods In Engineering
(Tuesday 02/05/06 5pm)

Actually a fairly manageable module. The lecturer was very kind normally. But why so many Laplace equations popped up in this paper?? All the parts that i'm stuck are Laplace equations. Haha quite weird. But since this is the last paper no one really cared as IT"S REALLY OVER.

7pm. Then it's off to Holland V to celebrate and enjoy the after-exams feel. Had Crystal Jade and mudpies at NYDC (or should i say YMCA...). Talked cock. Fun. It's really over.

Basketball the day after on wednesday. Rain one moment freaking strong sun the next. Freak weather. Freaking tired. Off to a friend's house for PS and comics.

The next day. Legs cannot make it. Cramping feeling. Pity my friend who still have to take his IPPT. Very weak nowadays. Used to be able to recuperate and heal in a day. So stayed at home for TV, computer and rest. One word... slack / rot. Till now my leg still pain. I mean NOW.

Had steamboat at tian tian last night. Still felt like we were shortchanged. It was ok only if you ask me. And also a midnight MI:3. Very siong. Both on the pockets and body. Haha. Another word... weak.
Just back from six hours at Settlers. Peach tea is nice. Happy Birthday Haisoon!!
