salute for alan shearer

Newcastle skipper Alan Shearer once again wrote his own fairytale script as he claimed his club record 201st goal just when they needed it most in a 2-0 home win over Portsmouth.

That goal sparked wild scenes of celebration at Gallowgate as the Geordie faithful rose to acclaim the greatest centre-forward of his generation.

Afterwards, he told Newcastle World: "The reception the fans gave me after scoring will live with me forever. I knew they would do something special but it was just incredible. Even I was getting emotional after scoring and then five minutes later when they were still chanting. It ranks up there with everything I've ever done in football. I am a very happy and proud man tonight."

~johncolombus~ would like to congratulate and salute our captain for this historic feat and moment. Now that he has got the record out of the way... may he go on to score more between now and the end of the season.

Adding to the fact that we won 2-0, got three massive points, a clean sheet for the defence that got quite a bit of stick recently (not without reason mind you), halt a run of seven premiership games without a win, four games without a goal... no wonder it got a 'It couldn't have been more perfect, in my opinion' response from caretaker boss Glenn Roeder.

JamX 2006 is finally and officially over after the finals today. Very tired but it's very nice. A little sense of accomplishment felt though i really did not do anything much. It has been quite a while since i felt this way. (Also took a photo with Carrie Chong who is the emcee for the finals) Got some photos... see if i'll have the time to post them up or not lor. A lot of tutorials to worry about the next couple of days. Another day maybe. Tired lah now.

It was good.

And congratulations to all the finalists for a smashing show.
